How does the game work?

Introducing Enigmarium®

Welcome to Enigmarium®, the first and most popular escape room in the Alpe-Adria region! In September 2014, we were the first to present this unique game concept in Ljubljana. By February 2015, we were ranked activity No. 1 on the Trip Advisor portal. Today, Enigmarium® – with more than thirty completely original gaming experiences – is one of the trendsetters in the field of Gamification in Tourism, and playful experiences are becoming one of the most popular ways to spend free time in cities across Slovenia, Europe and even across the pond.

How does the game work?

An escape room is an exciting reality game for a team of 2–4 (maximum 6) players. In 60 minutes, you have to solve the mission – by discovering hidden objects and clues, deciphering the codes, solving puzzles, and above all, thinking logically and cooperating with your team. The game is suitable for everyone (children accompanied by adults are warmly welcome). It is also an excellent gift for a birthday as well as an effective team-building activity.

A tip for lovers: we can even hide an engagement ring in our rooms!

Thinking out of the room

That we know how to think “out of the room” has been confirmed by numerous recognitions and awards. Our Escape Igloo® made of real snow literally became the COOLEST ROOM IN THE WORLD with the SNOVALEC 2015 Award of the Ministry of Tourism and the Spirit Slovenia Agency. We were the first to present new generations of high-tech rooms, where you as a player face challenges embedded in local history and where, in addition to great fun, you also learn something new. We gamify castles and museums – the game Escape to the Bivouac at the Slovenian Alpine Museum boasts prestigious international awards.

Professor’s secret

It was a dark, cold night, when I finally made it. After decades of deciphering old scriptures and ancient texts, experimenting and perfecting, I, Rufus Amadeus, at last, created the potion. The potion that would change everything. The potion after which the world would never, ever be the same.

But my creation, so precious that ordinary beings could abuse it, needed to be protected. So I devised a quest for all those that might seek it. You’ve made it far, finding the room where it all happened. But now, the final challenge begins. You have only one hour to find it, to reveal my secret and escape before you are locked in forever. Only those who truly deserve it will reach my legacy. Good luck!

Please arrive at the Escape Room Enigmarium® at RIS Dvorec Rakičan at least 10 minutes before the start of your session. Your friendly Gamemaster will explain the rules and ask you to sign a Non-disclosure Form – surely you can agree that it wouldn’t be cool if someone told you the answers in advance and spoil the fun … Then you are ready for unforgettable adventure!

FAQ and Good things to know

Escape Room Enigmarium® is situated in RIS dvorec Rakičan, next to Murska Sobota.

Safety first!

Players are able to leave the game / exit the room at any time (however, if you leave the room without reason, that can end the game).

In most of Enigmarium games, we do not even lock the door – the objective of the game is not escaping the locked door but finding a secret ingredient or something narrative based. Usually, at the point, where you will solve the mission, you’ll find the last key, but the door does not need to be locked. If you are scared of closed spaces, we can even leave the door open.

The Gamemaster, who is following what’s happening on hidden camera (not recorded, of course), can help you with a hint at any time.

In case the door is locked, there is a clearly marked “SOS key” or “SOS button” installed at a visible place next to the door. You will be able to open it at any time.

Enigmarium is a cofounder of the Slovenian Association of the Escape Room Activities GIZ ER.SI – the first association of its kind in the world. ensuring that escape room games are a safe and fun activity.

Then we suggest that you bring friends who don’t know the game with you and guide them through the game – you will also have fun

Throughout the game, the Gamemaster is following the activity in the command room via video camera (don’t worry, we’re not recording it!). If you get stuck and can’t figure out what to do next, the Gamemaster will give a hint in the form of a picture on the countdown screen. You can also even ask the Gamemaster for a hint using the Walkie-Talkie. Hints are a vital part of our game, since it’s obviously more fun if you solve as many puzzles as you can.

Don’t worry, it is not a test of intelligence, but a fun test of logical reasoning, cooperation and a little skill for which basic knowledge of primary school mathematics is sufficient. The game is suitable for everyone, the challenges are diverse, so there is something for everyone! Knowledge of foreign languages is not necessary, since the game takes place on a symbolic level.

This is an adventure that is fun for the entire family (or society). The youngest members of the family can help with opening up the locks and seeking for a hidden objects, for a truly fun gaming experience we recommend it for ages from nine to 99 years – as the skills of the younger generations are just as welcome as the experience and wisdom of the older ones, however the tasks are challenging, the things are fragile, a lot of patience and precision is needed, so children under 14 have to be accompanied with an adult (for instance: 2 adults / 3 kids).

Our experience says that the game runs best when groups are small: two, three or four people – for both better cooperate and communicate – it is our warm recommendation, in the case of 6 persons, preferring to form two groups of three people and to compete with each other. If indeed there is no other, it is the sixth person in the room at an additional cost of € 15.

Absolutely right! So that you can enjoy the game and so that your mobile telephone won’t interrupt the gameplay, we recommend that you lock it in the wardrobe that we have prepared for that purpose. (Of course, you can take the key to the wardrobe with you into the Escape Room.) We also kind ask that the solutions to the puzzles remain a secret. It certainly wouldn’t be cool if someone else told you the solutions in advance and spoilt the fun …

Just yourself – and good company. Everything you will need to solve puzzles you’ll find in the room. If you use reading glasses bring them with you.

Elizabeth’s Treasure

The town of Slovenj Gradec was founded by the influential Counts of Andechs. Bertold V. of Andechs dedicated the town church to his niece, Elizabeth of Hungary, who devoted her heart and soul to aiding the poor and the sick. Her life was marked by numerous miracles. She died when she was only twenty-four years old. Just four years after her death, she was canonized as a saint. Among the best-known legends about Elizabeth is how from the very Lord God she received the gift of a precious crown, a dress and some jewels. She did not want the treasure to end in the greedy hands of her husband’s parents, so she hid it.
